No-exam life insurance
Who can get accelerated underwriting, what it does, and how normal underwriting is different.
Most carriers now provide accelerated underwriting: within certain ages and coverage amounts, they use your application form, your medication records, driving history, and other available facts to make a decision—skip the exam. You might hear back the same day. Every quote here tells you if an exam is required, might be asked for, or is not needed.
What it changes
No exam doesn't mean no underwriting. Your responses get checked, and if you didn't answer truthfully, the carrier can challenge the policy within two years of issuance. If the carrier finds issues in their records, they might still request an exam; you can then decide whether to move forward.
Who tends to qualify
Usually people under about 60, seeking coverage up to the carrier's accelerated limit, with no serious health issues and no tobacco for 12 months or more. Some carriers also accept results from a recent checkup with bloodwork instead of a new exam.
If needed, an exam is usually 20 to 30 minutes with a paramedic at your home or office in the Moorpark area, at no charge. If you're healthy, the results might actually get you a better rate, so exams aren't always bad news.
